Clonal benthic invertebrates have the potential for indeterminate growth and the capacity to fusion and fission. This picture illustrates this phenomenon in the massive sponge Chondrosia reniformis. Other species are: Flabellia petiolata(green fan-like alga); Lithophyllum stictaeforme and Mesophyllum alternans (encrusting corallines), Dysidea avara (violet sponge), Phorbas tenacior (gray-blue encrusting sponge), Cliona sp. (boring sponge), and Parazoanthus axinellae (yellow soft-coral). Carall Bernat, Medes Islands. Depth ~ 20 m.
